One local sports team is working to spread a little holiday cheer. Nine-year-old Samantha's battle with leukemia brought them together, but Detroit Red Wings Coach Mike Babcock's passion for helping sick kids has them on a first name basis. "The guys and myself, we're not doing the research. Lots of times we're not even raising the money, and we're not making anyone better. We try to do our part, and our part is to help Samantha feel better and create a friendship, a relationship there that they can understand who we are and ideally you can help them," he said. "It's always like an eye-opener when you come here and see some of the kids and see what they're going through. This is real life what you see here, so it's a humbling experience for the players to come and see," said Red Wings Captain Nick Lindstrom. Babcock spends a lot of time with the kids at Children's Hospital, but for some of the players that only make it once a year, it makes an impression of them, but it lasts even longer for the patients.
