Every year Zoeller Ministries & PBOC host 70+ families with terminally-ill children to an all-expense paid weekend at Sebring Raceway. In the last couple of years, the Kids Racing For Life (KRFL) program has suffered tremendous cut-backs due to the down economy. The event in 2010 was nearly cancelled due to a lack of donations. With the permission of Zoeller Ministries, TrackWeekend.com & Massive Motorsports have teamed up to help keep this wonderful program running. The first step was to help raise awareness, and what better way to do this than by creating a video showcasing what the event is about. We asked some of our friends, pro-drivers and club owners to help us tell this story. The outcome was a genuinely heartfelt and impactful video. Truman on August 6 and August 9, 1945, respectively. After six months of intense fire-bombing of 67 other Japanese cities, followed by an ultimatum which was ignored by the Shōwa regime, the nuclear weapon "Little Boy" was dropped on the city of Hiroshima on Monday, August 6, 1945, followed on August 9 by the detonation of the "Fat Man" nuclear bomb over Nagasaki. These are the only attacks with nuclear weapons in the history of warfare. The bombs killed as many as 140000 people in Hiroshima and 80000 in Nagasaki by the end of 1945, with roughly half of those deaths occurring on the days of the bombings. Amongst these, 1520% died from injuries or the combined effects of flash burns, trauma, and radiation burns, compounded by illness, malnutrition and radiation sickness. Since then, more have died from leukemia (231 observed) and solid cancers (334 observed) attributed to exposure to radiation released by the bombs. In both cities, most of the dead were civilians.
